Mayor Norma Bustamante of Mexicali presided over the closing ceremony of the Comprehensive Educational and Social Program (PIES EN MOVIMIENTO), which benefited more than 5,000 children and youth in Ejido Puebla by fostering community transformation through crime prevention, values education, culture, sports, and environmental responsibility.
The closing event took place at Secondary School No. 66 Prof. María Rosalva Félix Beltrán, where the mayor emphasized the importance of the Mexicali City Hall’s presence in schools:
“Governments must also be teachers. We must engage with our children and youth to raise people who more responsible, conscious citizens deeply committed to their community,” she stated.
Jorge Luis González, a representative of the parents’ association, acknowledged PIES as an initiative that helps eliminate negative behaviors in the Ejido Puebla community while fostering new environments centered on harmony and family well-being.

The PIES EN MOVIMIENTO program involved several municipal government agencies, including the D.A.R.E. Foundation, the Youth Squad, the Fire Department, the Human Rights Coordination, the Environmental Protection Directorate, and the Institutes of Youth (IMJUM), Sports (IMDECUF), Women (IMMM), and Arts & Culture (IMACUM).
The program supported students and parents from the following schools: Moisés Sáenz Kindergarten; Prof. Cirilo Calderón Álvarez Elementary School; Puebla Elementary School; Secondary School No. 66 Prof. María Rosalva Félix Beltrán; CECYTE High School, Ejido Puebla Campus; and CONALEP High School, Mexicali campus.
