To mark World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the government of Playas de Rosarito, led by Mayor Rocío Adame, hosted the “See Human Trafficking for What It Is” forum at City Hall.

The event was organized by the City Council’s Human Trafficking Commission, chaired by Councilmember Luis Ricardo Martínez Cabrales, in coordination with various local and state agencies. The goal was to promote awareness, education, and early detection of this crime, while encouraging greater community participation in protecting human rights.

In her address to students, civil society groups, and the general public, Mayor Rocío Adame emphasized the importance of “exposing and not normalizing” this form of violence, which often goes unnoticed.

The forum featured speakers including the commission’s chair; Elena Anguiano Rentería, Undersecretary for Priority Groups; representatives from the State DIF, the Department of Social Welfare, the Municipal Women’s Institute, and other city officials.

As part of the program, attendees heard a specialized talk by expert Jorge Bonilla and Gabriela Guadalupe Navarro Peraza, head of the Baja California Interagency Commission Against Human Trafficking. Both shared vital information on how to identify, address, and report trafficking cases.
