Mayor Rocío Adame of Playas de Rosarito announced significant progress in public safety during a municipal security roundtable this week, citing a series of drug and weapon seizures, arrests, and a decline in criminal activity due to strengthened coordination between local, state, and federal authorities.
At the meeting, the mayor credited the success to preventive patrols, targeted operations, and sustained police presence which have led to multiple detentions of suspects tied to drug trafficking, illegal weapons possession, and property crimes. Recovered stolen vehicles and arrests related to petty drug dealing were also highlighted as tangible results of the collaboration.
Authorities reported intensified patrols in high-priority zones such as shopping areas, banks, pedestrian bridges, beaches, and neighborhoods with heightened security needs. Special attention is also being given to domestic violence calls and community outreach. It was emphasized that these actions directly impact the containment of criminal activities and weaken structures linked to organized crime, aligning with recently announced national strategies.
State investigative units noted advances in solving vehicle and home robberies, contributing to a reduction in crimes affecting local businesses and families. The importance of preventive work by all involved agencies was also emphasized, including monitoring, immediate response to incidents, and community engagement.
The mayor stated that these results are a result of the ongoing work of each agency and the institutional commitment to keeping security as a priority.
“The coordination and commitment we see today are reflected in real results for our community. We all build security together, and in Playas de Rosarito, we will continue working strategically with determination, engaging the community,” the mayor said.

During the session, risk factors for the December season were reviewed, including the rise in:
- Theft and property crimes: robberies targeting pedestrians due to holiday bonuses and Christmas shopping, commercial theft, and home burglaries during vacations.
- Alcohol-related crimes: brawls, homicides, domestic violence, and traffic accidents.
- Fraud and extortion: fake calls, online shopping scams, and fraudulent deposits in private sales.
- Fires: resulting from bonfires and fireworks use.
In light of seasonal risks, authorities are urging residents to take precautions, remain vigilant, and avoid any actions that might compromise their safety or property. These appeals coincide with the ongoing “Safe December” operation, which launched at the beginning of the month under the leadership of Mayor Rocío Adame. The initiative features heightened surveillance in commercial districts, tourist areas, highways, public spaces, and other strategic points across the municipality.

This deployment forms part of the city’s Comprehensive Christmas Security Plan, designed to provide consistent support to both residents and visitors and to maintain a secure environment throughout the holiday season.
The mayor emphasized that these measures are part of a broader strategy that aligns with national security efforts, including those highlighted by Mexico’s Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, concerning mass apprehensions and the prioritized fight against crime.
“We will continue to reinforce seasonal operations, supporting our merchants, families, and visitors through a strategic police presence. Security is built day by day, and we build it together,” the mayor said.
Through these actions, the 10th City Hall of Playas de Rosarito reaffirms its commitment to peace, crime prevention, and the protection of everyone in Rosarito.
