A coordinated security strategy led by Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz of Rosarito is yielding tangible results, with recent data showing a notable drop in criminal activity across key categories in the region.

Mayor Rocío Adame of Rosarito spearheaded the Security Roundtable, a multi-agency meeting attended by high-level representatives from federal, state, and municipal security forces. These included the Secretariat of Citizen Security, the Secretariat of the Navy, the Secretariat of National Defense, the National Guard, the State Attorney General’s Office, the State Investigation Agency, the State Citizen Security Force, and C5 Playas de Rosarito, underscoring a unified approach to public safety.

The presented data compared crime statistics from August of the previous year to the week of September 11-17, revealing a promising downward trend. The overall crime rate saw an 8.1% decline, falling from 321 to 295 total incidents. More specifically, the report highlighted dramatic reductions in several critical areas:

  • Street Robbery: A 60% decrease, plummeting from 104 to 41 incidents.
  • Home Burglary: A 48% reduction, dropping from 95 to 49 cases.
  • Property Crimes: A 45% fall, from 377 to 206 cases.

The effectiveness of this inter-agency collaboration was put to the test during a recent armed attack on Blvd. Siglo XXI and Mariano Verdugo Street in the Lomas de Coronado neighborhood. Authorities successfully repelled the aggression without any civilian casualties. The operation resulted in one assailant being detained and the other deceased.

Mayor Rocío Adame credited the positive results to a strategy focused on prevention and community engagement.

“Good results have been achieved thanks to coordination. Security is a priority issue and that is why we are present at these roundtables. Being on the street is vital for prevention, and there is a strong willingness to change things from the government, security authorities, and the citizens themselves,” she said.

The 10th City Hall of Playas de Rosarito reaffirmed that these advances are part of its ongoing commitment to safeguard the well-being of local families and ensure security through continued prevention and fight against crime.
