There are many medical areas operating in the city, but cosmetic surgery is one of the most recurrent among foreign patients who travel thousands of kilometers to be addressed in this municipality.
Responding to these alternatives, and through a mere need of vanity, hundreds of men come to Tijuana looking for a particular treatment: A widening of the penis.
Is it new? No. This practice has been done in Tijuana for years, having its boom between 2007 and 2015; however, this activity is still on high demand nowadays.
Dr. Luis Casavantes, who leads the AvantiDerma clinic, is one of the world pioneers of this practice. He has more than 30 years of experience, of which 14 have been exclusively devoted to the application of fillers in different parts of the body, not just in the male genitals.
Dr. Luis Casavantes is well-known for these kind of procedures.
"Men mainly associate their penis size with virility, according to studies, 60% of men disagreed with the size of his penis," said Dr. Casavantes.
After learning it in Brazil, this procedure is a technique perfected and brought to the city in early 2000 by Casavantes, and suddenly turned into a great success that attracts men from many parts of the world.
A "simple" procedure, he says, an outpatient process, where only local anesthesia is used. The patient is admitted walking and similarly removed from the clinic.
Some years ago he had four patients daily, but currently he only applies this procedure to six patients per week.
The Filling technique involves inserting Polimetilmetactilato (PMMA), a well-suited compound in the human organism, which unlike others, it has greater stability in the body.
The compound is introduced in specific amounts and is easy to mold thanks to properties it contains.
Unlike other body parts where fillers are made, the penis lacks a layer of fat. When the polymer is introduced, it is handled until it adjusts perfectly, while the body, instead of purifying the compound, causes the absorption of collagen, creating a layer above it.
This is a procedure that has attracted the attention of thousands of men in recent years, mainly from the United States, Canada and Australia, but also surprisingly from African countries, as Malaiu, or some of Europe and Asia.
In essence it is an elitist treatment, expensive and just a few have access to it. The clinic asks patients traveling to Tijuana to stay a few days to provide treatment continuity, which can be done in a total of three sessions maximum.
Costs can range from $ 2,000 per session, taking into consideration that it can be up to three, that's why a filter of future patients is done because it is really a significant investment that cannot result in a half-finished work.
And although there are other techniques to give more volume, or promising penis enlargement -as in the case of implants- Dr. Casavantes alerted men to reconsider these as they have come to him cases from patients who have seriously affected their body, when at the beginning the only goal was to seek aesthetic improvement.
AvantiDerma is the pioneer of this type of treatment in the city.
The Mexican patient is present in this type of treatment, but many of them are not suitable for treatment, because one of the things to consider is that men who wants to submit to this treatment must be circumcised, and many Mexicans aren't.
Undoubtedly, the widening of the penis can generate curiosity, or many may think that it's not a serious treatment, but the implications of dealing with such a sensitive organ like the penis can only be carried out by experts in the field, such as Dr. Luis Casavantes, whose experience has reached other countries, which means that very few doctors in the world are performing the widening of the member with this technique.
Despite all the information online, it still exists a big interrogation sign in the community regarding the subject , issue that has led Casavantes to release a digital book on history, physiology and studies regarding the aesthetic treatment of male genitalia, which will make it available to all age groups. The release will be approximately in a month.
