Mexicali Mayor Norma Bustamante delivered 368 financial grants through the local DIF to aid in the education of children and teenagers. The beneficiaries were elementary, middle school, high school, and university students.
“We know that education is the best tool to prevent violence, crime, and addiction. That is why we are delivering these incentives along with backpacks and school supplies, which will provide relief for their families,” the mayor said.

Karla Edith González, Mexicali DIF Board President, explained that this second group of beneficiaries belongs to the “Street Rescue” programs and the Municipal Youth Institute registry.
The award ceremony was held at the theater of the Mexicali Cultural Center and was attended by federal deputy Armando Samaniego, local deputies Jaime Cantón and Juan Manuel Molina; and councilwomen Patricia Ríos and Luisa Zuccoli.
