At a swearing-in ceremony led by Mayor Norma Bustamante, Mexicali welcomed 24 new police officers—12 women and 12 men—who will reinforce the Municipal Public Security Directorate (DSPM) and strengthen the city’s police force.

“Wearing this uniform is a privilege that carries the responsibility of protecting the people of Mexicali. I reiterate my commitment to continue supporting you with training, equipment, and incentives to build a safer Mexicali,” the mayor said.
The event also featured the signing of a collaboration agreement with the State Public Security Citizen Council, headed by Roberto Quijano Sosa.

As part of this new partnership, the council delivered four patrol drones to the police force. The drones are expected to significantly boost the department’s surveillance capabilities, operational capacity, and emergency response times.
Luis Felipe Chan, Director of the Municipal Public Security, commended the new officers for the effort and dedication they demonstrated during their training. He urged them to wear their uniforms with pride and to remain committed to their mission of serving and protecting the community.
