The Mexicali City Hall unanimously approved the creation of a police academy under the Municipal Public Safety Directorate (DSPM), aiming to strengthen security in the capital of Baja California.
Mayor Norma Bustamante of Mexicali said that the council voted in favor of her proposal to repurpose the former “Misión San Carlos” Comprehensive Care Center for At-Risk Youth and convert it into a new academy.
“We continue making progress on our project to build a safe and peaceful Mexicali by creating spaces to train Mexicali natives with a true commitment to serving the community,” the mayor said.
