Mexicali City Hall, through the Municipal Public Security Directorate (DSPM), has launched the “Police Sectorization Plan” in the city’s Western District, reaffirming its commitment to promoting peace and safety for local families.

At an event held at the Santa Isabel Subcommand Headquarters, attended by citizens, local legislators, councilors, and business leaders, Mayor Norma Bustamante emphasized that this initiative is a comprehensive strategy aimed at improving security perception, lowering crime rates, and strengthening public trust in law enforcement.

“Our goal is clear: to reduce crime and enhance security across the municipality,” the mayor stated.

Meanwhile, DSPM Director Lieutenant Colonel Julián Leyzaola detailed the strategic model, explaining that its purpose is to enhance crime prevention and response, protect citizens, and maintain public order.

He added that, thanks to the DSPM’s Operational Intelligence Analysis Unit, the city will be divided into six districts. Operations will begin first in the Western District, which includes 52 designated zones, 59 patrol units, 3 tactical drones, and 287 officers.

The plan includes rapid response teams, intensive patrolling, and a strategic presence in key areas, all focused on sustainably reducing crime in priority zones.

It also incorporates tactical equipment, advanced communication technology, and upgraded patrol vehicles equipped with satellite tracking and real-time recording.

Leyzaola also highlighted the critical role of drones in the operation, noting their ability to detect faces, license plates, and unusual activity.

These drones transmit live video feeds to the command center, enabling real-time coordination with ground units during vehicle pursuits, surveillance of high-risk areas, disaster response efforts, and search operations.
