Extremely high temperatures are expected this weekend, surpassing 45°C (113°F), prompting the Municipal Civil Protection Unit (UMPC) to urge residents to take extreme precautions to avoid heat-related health risks.
According to the latest forecast, Saturday, June 14, will see a high of 42°C (108°F), with a heat index reaching 44°C (111°F). On Sunday, June 15, temperatures are expected to climb to 45°C (113°F), with a heat index of up to 47°C (117°F). Similarly, Monday, June 16, will bring highs of 44°C (111°F), which will feel like 45°C (113°F).
In response, UMPC reiterated key measures to prevent heatstroke, including staying constantly hydrated, avoiding sun exposure, and never leaving vulnerable individuals or pets inside vehicles.
Additionally, hydration stations remain operational across the city and surrounding valley, including at Albergue El Peregrino, Casa Betania, El Mesón, and Oxxo convenience stores, among others.
The “S.O.S. Hydrate” mobile unit, operated by the Municipal DIF, is also conducting outreach by distributing kits with water and oral rehydration salts and providing transportation for vulnerable individuals to the hydration station at El Peregrino Shelter.
