Mayor Norma Bustamante brought city services directly to residents this week, leading a “DIF at Home” brigade in the Benito Juárez delegation and delivering assistance to hundreds of families.
The event, held at Casino Hidalgo, is part of the city’s broader push to bring essential services to neighborhoods on the outskirts of Mexicali, where access can be limited.
“We’re out in the streets working alongside DIF and our entire team,” Bustamante said. “What matters most to us is making sure services and support reach the people who need them most.”
During the visit, the mayor handed out 32 financial aid packages through the city’s Citizen Attention office.

Karla Edith González, president of the DIF Mexicali Board of Trustees, said residents were able to receive medical, nutritional and psychological consultations on site. The brigade also distributed food supplies and prescription glasses.
Older adults in vulnerable situations received mobility aids and other functional support devices, while Civil Registry staff were available to process official documents.
Claudia Beltrán, the city’s chief administrative officer, said the Municipal Animal Control Center also took part, providing vaccinations and free spay-and-neuter vouchers for pets.
Among those in attendance were Federal Congressman Armando Samaniego, Cabinet Coordinator Víctor Delgado, Rural Development and Delegations Director Gerardo Siqueiros, Municipal DIF representative Helga Casanova and Fire Chief Rubén Osuna.
