Mexicali Police Make Over 100 Arrests in August

Officers detained more than 100 individuals, most linked to theft cases, while also executing 70 pending warrants.

The Mexicali Public Security Department (DSPM) intensified its operations on the city’s streets, focusing on rapid response to citizen reports through the 911 emergency line.

DSPM Director Luis Felipe Chan reported significant results for the month of August, in line with the security strategy commanded by Mayor Norma Bustamante.

Police work focused on the seizure of illicit substances and dangerous devices.

From August 1st to August 31st, the Municipal Police achieved the following results:

  • Weapons secured: 9 handguns, 1 long gun, 332 cartridges, 17 magazines, 1 ballistic vest, 238 prohibited (edged) weapons, 3 replica firearms, 3 improvised weapons, and 2 pellet guns seized.
  • Arrests: 102 people arrested for various types of theft; 70 arrest warrants executed, 2 of them for homicide. Another 10 individuals were apprehended for weapons possession and 50 for drug possession.
  • Recovered vehicles: 49 vehicles previously reported stolen recovered.
  • Drug seizures: 2.5 kg of cocaine, 453 packages of methamphetamine, 100 of marijuana, and 92 of “ICE,” in addition to other doses of various substances.

Luis Felipe Chan confirmed that police continue to work for the safety of the community and reminded citizens that the 911 emergency line is available 24 hours a day for any reports.
