Mayor Norma Bustamante of Mexicali unveiled the new street sweepers, part of the “Mexicali Shines” program, which will be used by the Public Services Department to clean and maintain roads, ensuring a cleaner and more organized city.

“We want every peso invested by the people of Mexicali to translate into cleaner, safer streets and a more functional city. That’s why we are here to oversee the operation of these new sweepers, which will help keep roads, bridges, and overpasses clean,” the mayor said.

She also acknowledged the professionalism, effort, and dedication of Public Services staff, who have been training for weeks to operate the new machinery.

Meanwhile, Juan Francisco Garza, Director of Public Services, explained that with the addition of two new sweepers, cleaning efficiency will improve significantly. The machines’ operating speed has increased from 5 km/h to 10 km/h, reducing cleaning time and allowing more ground to be covered per shift.
