Mexicali is inviting residents and visitors alike to experience the vibrant culture of Mexico at the third annual National Folklore Festival, “Mexico at the Border.” The free, three-day event, organized by the city’s Tourism and Conventions Committee (COTUCO) and the Municipal Institute of Art and Culture (IMACUM), will run from October 24th through the 26th.
According to María de los Ángeles Murillo, head of COTUCO Mexicali, the festival aims to significantly enrich the cultural landscape of the state capital. She highlighted the event’s binational flair, noting it will feature 150 dancers from the Mexican states of Veracruz and Sonora, as well as from San Diego, California.
While general admission is free for all performances, the closing gala at the State Theatre will require complimentary passes to manage seating capacity, noted Anahí Martínez, Director of IMACUM.

National Folklore Festival “Mexico at the Border” Schedule:
- October 24 (7:00 p.m.): Festival Inauguration at the City Center
- October 25 (6:00 p.m.): Performance at Casa de la Cultura
- October 26 (11:00 a.m.): Performance at Feria Oaxaqueña
- October 26 (7:00 p.m.): Closing gala at the State Theatre. (Free passes available at IMACUM and Casa de la Cultura)
