The government of Mexicali plans to invest $599.4 million pesos in public works by the end of the 2025 fiscal year, according to a recent report by credit rating agency HR Ratings, which evaluated the city’s financial management.

Mayor Norma Bustamante confirmed the projection and added that Mexicali is on track to meet it by the end of the year.

By the close of 2025, the local government is expected to report a 4% year-over-year increase in its public investment budget.

The funds will be destined to key programs and infrastructure projects launched last year, including road resurfacing works, improvements to urban infrastructure, and upgrades to local sports facilities.

With these investments, the local government reaffirms its commitment to enhancing public services for Mexicali residents, while also creating favorable conditions to attract foreign investment and expand the formal job market.

The HR Ratings report also maintained Mexicali’s credit rating of HR A+ with a stable outlook. The agency highlighted the city’s progress in reducing public debt and settling outstanding liabilities with ISSSTECALI, the Baja California state government’s employee benefits agency.
