The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) reported a 9.4% year-over-year increase in the value of merchandise exports from Mexicali during the first quarter of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.
“The export figures released by INEGI reflect the growth in the dollar value of goods sold by Mexicali and Mexico to the rest of the world, particularly in manufacturing and agriculture,” Mayor Norma Bustamante of Mexicali said.
From January to March 2025, exports from Mexicali reached $3.776 billion USD, surpassing the $3.452 billion recorded in the first quarter of 2024.
Manufactured goods represent 96% of Mexicali’s exports, with computer equipment, electrical appliances, accessories, and power generation machinery among the main products.
The agricultural sector makes up the remaining 4%, with exports totaling $150 million USD during the same period.
This growth occurs despite ongoing uncertainties caused by tariff threats from U.S. President Donald Trump, underscoring the private sector’s determination and government efforts to strengthen Mexico’s industrial resilience.
