The administrator of the Facebook page and Twitter account for "Valor por Tamaulipas" (Courage for Tamaulipas), announced yesterday the "permanent closure" of these accounts, after nearly nine days and two months that the organized crime in this area put a price for his head.

"I cannot continue with this for various reasons, which I do not need to explain. And I don't know if you all will believe that I have not given up and will not give up. But I've given this everything I could and my inability to administer the site, reports and risks are very noticeable," said a message yesterday that was posted on Facebook.

"I don't know how to explain it, but organized crime in my case did win a battle against me and not against society. It beat me and my family. It did not beat the 200,000 people who believed in this and the thousands who collaborated with us despite their fear," said the anonymous internet user.

Also, in his message he indicates that in his "experience" throughout the year and a few months that he administered this site. He realized that "social networks are a battlefield in which users have an interest or role in this War with."

This internet user also warns that social networks are crossing Mexico's criminal organizations interests with those of "intelligence personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) and the Navy (Semar)."

"The reality about social networks is that there aren't many honest users like one may think there are, and the consequences of collaborating with the wrong person can be disastrous," he adds.

The Courage for Tamualipas Facebook page has more than 214,000 "likes", and reports on risky situations that are triggered in the state of Tamaulipas, which is located in north eastern part of Mexico, and is a violent territory that the Gulf cartel and two other criminal organizations -Los Zetas and the Sinaloa cartel- have been fighting over in recent years.

The administrator for these accounts thanked his supporters for their "trust and support" and offered an "apology" for not continuing with this.

Last February, a criminal organization offered more than $47,200 dollars for the head of the administrator that managed both Facebook and Twitter accounts for "Courage for Tamaulipas."
