TIJUANA.- Juan Manuel Gastélum, Federal representative for the state of Baja California, spoke on the House floor in favor of more accountability from public functionaries.

Gastélum asserted that "this treatment toward Mexicans is unfair, and Mexico does not need these types of fiscal reforms that hit people in their back pockets.. They are not going to be able to comply" and clarified that the PAN party was never in favor of said reform.

"This is why they say we are good-for-nothings, because we don't promote measures that are in line with the citizens, so while we don't support these reforms we aren't accomplishing anything either, and if this doesn't change there will be public outcry, and widespread discontent. Open your eyes and visit the districts, visit your cities and see for yourself that Mexico is hungry for change".

This ideology is not a recent development. Gastélum has already manifested his support for the general population in the past and expressed the lack of confidence that citizens have toward public functionaries and the importance that people understand their rights and demand more from their government.
