Named as "the Congresswoman of migrants," Arellano has caused quite some controversy since her pre-candidacy when news about her past resurfaced, where a few years ago she worked in Las Vegas as an escort and appeared in provocative photos and videos throughout that stage of her life.

"It is very sad that a handful of people, are jeopardizing the reputation of this party that has given so much to Mexico," said Arellano.
Giselle and her family migrated to San Diego, California when she was 10 years old. Years later after working in Las Vegas, she then returned to Mexico and attended one of the most prestigious Universities in the country (Tecnologico de Monterrey), where she studied marketing. Despite this situation Giselle Arellano said that she is still in support of every citizen and especially women, who by "macho" and uncompromising policies prevent them from succeeding.
As for Arellano's followers, they have maintained their support towards her and have even suggested for her to join another political party to continue her work for migrants.
