The Mexican government requested information on 127 users from Facebook, in an effort to receive support in criminal investigations.

During a press conference, Director of Legal affairs for Facebook, Colin Stretch, pointed out that they had accepted 30% of the requests made by the Mexican Government, focusing on the users full name and the time they spend on the social network. In most of the cases, this information was used for investigations on robbery cases and kidnappings.

"In the coming reports, we hope to be capable of providing even more information about the requests we received from police authorities. We also invite all governments to provide a greater transparency when it comes to their efforts to keeping the public safe, and we will continue to aggressively defend greater disclosure" he mentioned during the press conference.

Over 39,000 accounts have been investigated due to requests from over 71 countries, 53.9% of the requests made to Facebook have been from the United States.
