On the second day of activities at Tijuana Innovadora, the first conference scheduled to take place, and to be given by President Felipe Calderon was canceled a few minutes after the start time of the conference, in which everyone who was present at the event were notified.
Yesterday morning Felipe Calderon was one of the officials, who celebrated the inauguration of the event which he then later on attended a gala dinner, where several entrepreneurs of the region were also present.
In comparison to the day before the inauguration, the Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT) looked fairly empty with no signs of protesters or any visible heavy security measures.The esplanade was empty with just a few puddles of water from the overnight rain, and the stands were open for the public.
There were rumors that in the inauguration Enrique Peña Nieto was also going to be present, which was going to be impossible because he is currently in a tour through Europe.
Since 7:30a.m. this morning people attending this first conference, had been waiting for the Hall of Entertainment at the CECUT to open its doors. Students, Academics and representatives of various educational institutions waited a little more than an hour, during which none of the organizers had even arrived until after 8:30a.m., and it was rumored that the event had been canceled, but after a little while one of the assistants of the event organizers had confirmed that the event will continue as planned, and that the next conference "Software and your Freedom" would continue as scheduled at 10a.m. given by Richard Stallman.
Tijuana Innovadora is a 10 day event that aims to celebrate the best that Tijuana has to offer in a creative way, the event will end on October 21st.
