Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto stated that he will keep Mexican elections clean of other nation's involvement, while assuring to the media that he'll stay clear of the same process while it is being held in the U.S.

"The Mexican Government will be observant and respectful of the United States electoral process, for we will not intervene in them. We will steer clear of other's affairs the same as we won't allow for other nations, be it the U.S. or otherwise, to intervene in such internal processes of our country", he declared in a speech during a presentation of a new highway system that will facilitate transit between the municipalities of Tijuana, Rosarito, and Tecate, in Baja California, Mex.

Peña expressed that his administration's interests lie in other areas, such as protecting and upholding the political rights of Mexicans living abroad.

"What we will concern ourselves with is ensuring that Mexicans living in the United States in a legal manner and who are now participating as American citizens have full access to their political rights", he added.

Peña Nieto emphasized the importance of Mexico-United States relations, mentioning that, no matter who turns out victor in the next U.S. presidential elections, maintaining a good relation between both countries is a primary concern for his administration.

"Our government will pursue a constructive partnership with whoever is elected United States President in the interest of turning North America into a competitive, productive region, one that prepares their societies for better living conditions", he later sentenced.

Addressing finally the subject of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's proposed border wall, Peña Nieto called his ways as "erroneous".

"It seems to me that those who attempt to isolate themselves are following a misguided idea. We are today part of a global community were everyday borders of all kind are practically reduced to nothing, forming a worldwide community", he finalized.
