After winning 4 Academy Awards for Birdman, social media users and even celebrities have expressed their joy towards Iñárritu, given that he is the second Mexican to win Best Director. There were even jokes about changing the famous "Angel" monument of Mexico City.
After winning Best Picture, Alejandro González Iñárritu finished off his speech with the phrase: "I pray we find the Government we deserve". Today the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), by which Mexico is ruled, answered to the director's comment via Twitter with the following message:
"We agree with having Mexican pride, it is a fact that far beyond deserving it we are indeed building a better Government. Congrautlations" #GonzálezIñárritu
This message has received a number of critics in Twitter as well as in Facebook accusing the party of cynicism.
