“Mexican” singer Marc Anthony becomes target of racist comments

Marc Anthony was actually born in New York and is of Puerto Rican descent, so obviously he is an American citizen, but that did not seem to matter for many, who through the social network Twitter were complaining and criticizing him for singing this song.

The tweets were not only racist but also ignorant, complaining that Marc Anthony was Mexican and had no right to be there. Again, the singer is of Puerto Rican descent and was born in New York, which belongs to one of the 50 states of America. But anyway, there was even someone who suggested that instead of having a Spanish singer interpret the song, it should be someone completely American like Ke$ha, you know someone who was born in one of the 50 states and is white and who only speaks English and was a good role model to young people.

America is supposedly the land of opportunity, freedom and the first ones to jump to "protect" the rights of others. Apparently, everyone that speaks Spanish is considered by many Americans as being Mexican now.
