We live in a world where virtual reality (VR) is already almost everywhere, so it was just about time for creativity to make its magic and work in the minds of people interested in the subject. This time it was turn for a group of young Mexicans to use it in the creation of a mobile app that seeks to help people fight their depression.
The name of the app is Happiness, and the developers are Rodrigo Padilla y Marco A. Wang Tsu Liu, supported by the experience of PhD Maria Cardenas, and PhD Philosopher, Walter Greenlaf.
A family member of one of the developers was diagnosed with clinical depression, thus, the idea of this app was born. This person was submitted to music therapy, and so, Rodrigo and Marco started to research the effects of VR in the brain, and how it could be useful to fight this disease.
The app will show places such as Xcaret y Cancun, and
the user will have a guided meditation available at anytime while surrounded by the most paradisiac sites of Mexico. Happiness is already available for Android and for iOS.
"It will be an app open to user's feedback, and in that way, if they want to meditate in a place like India, they could go there by only entering the app and putting their VR viewers", both commented.
