Since the electing campaigns started, many of Mexico's citizens demanded a fair and clear procedure.
The extent of presidential campaigns, media exposition and everything else should be the same for all of the candidates. The Election Day passed and the preliminary count appointed a winner people weren't happy with, it is being written about, it is being talked about in and out of the country.
The rules establish that the official counting will take place tomorrow, July 04 and, for that, the Mexican people have all been invited to go to their corresponding district to verify the counting.
Invitations to march against the imposition of a candidate on different points of country are circulating all over the social networks; some of these protests have already crystallized in the Mexican capital as well as other Mexican cities. But following what the law states is first and that is a clear, transparent counting.
Official institutions as well as national and foreign leaders alike congratulated Enrique Peña Nieto the, to this moment, virtual winner of the elections. To be able to finalize the election process, though, the official counting must end first and an official document must be issued by the Electoral Court. For that reason it is considered that the news and the good wishes arrived a bit too early.
Some media talked about Enrique Peña Nieto not being the best option, the fear his party represented for the history of corruption and ties with the drug trafficking industry some of their militants have. Newspapers in France and Germany argued that his triumph on the elections was the product of a strategy elaborated by the groups in power.
The German weekly Spiegel Online labeled him as "Mr. Soap Opera" referring to the public exposure of his relationship to Mexican actress Angélica Rivera, now his wife; the publicity his administration as governor of the State of Mexico received and some other activities that turned him into the favorite candidate, though not necessarily because of his political proposals.
Le Monde printed a picture of Enrique Peña Nieto in their front page along with the caption "Return to the perfect dictatorship", in the same vein a French television network aired a report about vote buying in Mexico.
Also today, th Mexican media reported the great influx of people arriving to the Soriana chain supermarkets in the Federal District as well as the State of Mexico to make use of the store credit cards valid for groceries and home appliances the PRI's candidates gave them in exchange for their votes.
There was talk regarding a pacific process but at the same time hundreds of reports about alteration of the total of votes, vote buying and bribing of voting booths staff appeared all over the country as well as threats and other kinds of aggression to national and international observers. The complaint boxes received a number of reports that will be investigated.
Andrés Manuel López Obrador's declarations aside, the candidate who got 2nd place this time is not only one person but countless citizens who demand answers regarding a possible fraud.
Those who assure that the procedure was fair call the complaints disrespectful to those who served as staff in the voting booths and to the party representatives by not recognizing the labor they did during the Election Day.
Enrique Peña Nieto received around 38% of the votes during the preliminary counting, the official results will be made public at the end of this week; it is expected that the numbers won't vary greatly from the virtual result.
