With 155 thousand 145 confirmed deaths due to the coronavirus so far, Mexico has moved up in the "top" list of countries with the highest mortality rates in the pandemic to position itself at number 3, displacing India, which had occupied that position for several months.
According to information published by Johns Hopkins University, the United States continues to lead this list with 432 thousand 603 confirmed deaths, followed by Brazil, which currently registers around 221 thousand 547 deaths.
In the last 24 hours, Mexico has added one thousand 506 deaths, in addition to registering 18 thousand 670 new cases, bringing the total number of COVID-19 infections to 825 thousand 519 since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.
Just yesterday, the Secretariat of Health released through a report announced at the National Palace, the increase in the mortality rate in the country from 8.4% to 8.5%, which makes us note that even though this increase in the percentage may have been minimal, it is a catastrophic reflection of the poor control the country has had over the pandemic.
In better news, the Secretariat of Health also confirmed that the number of people recovered has already registered one million 376 thousand and 73 people, keeping an eye on the 112 thousand 216 active cases of SARS Cov-2 virus that are currently being treated.
So far Campeche retains the title as the only Mexican entity under the green traffic light, since Mexico still has 10 states in red (Mexico City, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Morelos, Tlaxcala, Queretaro, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Coahuila and Nuevo Leon), 19 in orange (Aguascalientes, Baja California Sur, Baja California, Colima, Durango, Guerrero, Michoacan, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, Nayarit, Puebla, Sinaloa, Sonora, San Luis Potosí, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Yucatán and Zacatecas) and 2 in yellow (Chihuahua and Chiapas).
