BALTIMORE.- The eighteen gold Olympic medalist was sentenced to a year in prison that was substituted for a year and half probation. Michael Phelps pleaded guilty for drunk driving before a judge and relapsing will mean prison.
Phelps was arrested on September 30th in Baltimore, where he registered a 0.14 on a breath test, 0.06 above the legal limit in the state of Maryland. He was caught, when speeding he changes lanes in the opposite direction.
Considered as the best swimmer of all times, Phelps has had trouble with drugs and alcohol even when he was active in the pool. His lawyer said that he has made an effort to stay sober since that date and that doctor were a key element for its sentence to conclude in probation.
Once out of trial, Phelps made clear that he acknowledges his big mistake and the he will work to have a better future If a eighteen time Olympic medalist and twenty-seven times world winner is saying that, is because he clearly crossed the line.
