In recent years, more Europeans, Canadians and Americans have come to Tijuana, not for its cultural appeal or night life, but for its medical service industry and now adding to plastic surgery popularity, infertility treatments are among the most requested.
According to Horacio Ortega Clavero, head of the Fertility Center at the Prado Hospital in Tijuana which is on the cutting edge of infertility treatments with their state-of-the-art technology.
Ortega assures that 50% of patients are from the U.S., from nearby states to Tijuana, like California and Nevada, "for quality, effectiveness and costs of treatment, as well as family support that this border town has."
Any treatment, from the most simple one like artificial insemination to in vitro fertilization, has a (notably) lower cost compared to other countries, said Ortega.
