Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, Tijuana’s mayor on leave, has asserted that Morena’s stronghold in Baja California remains firm against opposition parties, attributing the party’s resilience to both its institutional positioning and the sustained grassroots efforts of its local leadership.

In an interview with Joaquín López-Dóriga on Radio Fórmula, Burgueño emphasized that the party’s strength in the region is rooted in people recognition of those who have championed the Fourth Transformation project from various public offices.

“Morena is very strong as a political party. I believe it is the different leaders we have in Baja California that give Morena its true strength,” Burgueño said.

The mayor on leave, who has served both as state party chair and as a municipal official, underscored that his own trajectory reflects a broader commitment to the movement. He argued that consistent outreach and presence in local communities have been key to preserving voter trust and securing continued backing for Morena.

Reflecting on his tenure as state leader, Burgueño noted that he closely tracked the party’s electoral performance and pointed to polling data that consistently placed Morena well ahead of its rivals.

“For over 25 or 30 points, Morena has always remained above the opposition,” he said.

For Burgueño, that margin is the product of coordinated leadership and citizen confidence, which must be maintained through unity, community engagement, and the continuity of the Fourth Transformation in Baja California.
