TIJUANA A team from "MTV World Stage" began taping interviews Thursday with local musicians and writers for a series about cities around the world affected by violence.
The network's production team taped a musical workshop that DJ Ramón Amezcua, alias Bostich, a member of the Nortec Collective, gave at Iberoamericana University as part of the ninth annual Cultural Conference of the Jesuit University System.
Some 16 to 20 artists in different fields will be interviewed, such as Bostich in music and the writer Rafa Saavedra in literature, said Silvana Sosa, a member of the production team.
She said the goal of the series is to highlight the art being done in cities around the world coping with high rates of violence, showing their positive side.
The team is planning to interview artists in Brazil, China and Egypt, Sosa said.
"We'll be meeting people who are dedicated to their art and who are interested in raising awareness about the good things happening in their cities."
