The Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park is getting ready to host a series of nighttime markets this summer called Natsu Nights, transforming the tranquil space into a vibrant after-dark destination.

A Different Kind of Summer Night Out

During these special events, visitors will be able to explore the garden during extended evening hours. They can take in the illuminated landscapes and walkways while enjoying a relaxing atmosphere perfect for unwinding or spending time with friends and family.

The experience will feature themed merchandise, rotating activities, and drink options including matcha, all designed to help guests escape from their daily routines.

Dates and Themes

The night market series will take place on select Saturdays from June through August, with each event offering a unique theme:

  • June 27: Kawaii Trinketcore Night
  • July 25: Crafty Cuties Market
  • August 22: Enchanted Curio Market

Hours and Admission

The garden’s upper area will remain open late from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on event days. Admission during these hours costs $5. Vendors will be on-site starting at 12:00 p.m. and will remain until 8:00 p.m.

With its blend of culture, relaxation, and nighttime charm, Natsu Nights is shaping up to be one of San Diego’s must-do summer activities, especially for anyone looking for a calm yet unique evening experience.
