BAJA CALIFORNIA.- Yesterday, a citizen initiative presented upon State Congress, requests to reform Baja California´s Constitution articles 57 and 97, with the purpose of reducing the earning of those who work as state officials.
In other words, the proposal wants its public officials (such as the Governor, Deputies and Magistrates of the Superior Court of Justice) to lender a payment equal o lesser than $1,682.25 pesos ($115,550 dlls) per day.
¨In no case will the import of the total lender or retribution (of a public official) will be lesser to two nor higher than twenty five times, than the entity´s current minimum wage¨ was established in article´s 97 modification, according to a document copy from Uniradioinforma.
On the other hand, article 57 will be modified regarding the paychecks of ¨magistrates, judges and judiciary councils¨, with the purpose of guaranting that they will respect was has been settled in article 97.
¨If any of you (officials) does not find this suitable, you have the opportunity of resigning from your position, charge o commission¨, added the initiative.
If approved, State workers will no be able to earn more tan $50,467,000 pesos ($3,467 dlls), according to the actual amount of minimum wage, which is of $67.29 ($4.60) according to the National Minimum Wage Commission.
