San Diego, Calif. (August 2, 2016) Energy Upgrade California, a statewide initiative dedicated to helping Californians save energy and conserve natural resources, today announced it is going mobile with instant access to home energy use monitoring through a partnership with Chai Energy. The free smartphone app identifies energy-saving opportunities, tips and available home upgrades based on household energy consumption to help users save on utility bills. App users can also participate in Chai Energy's Power Pay Day program, which provides cash rewards for lowering energy use during peak hours.
"This partnership will give Californians real-time energy use information, helping them get closer to hitting their energy-saving goals while raising awareness about efficiency," said David Cohen, programs and partnerships manager, Energy Upgrade California. "Combining our services with Chai Energy helps Californians easily identify and realize energy savings."
Energy Upgrade California has arranged for the first 1,000 qualified registrants who sign up for the app to be upgraded to Chai Energy Pro for free a $49 value. With the Chai Energy Pro hardware, users can see the actual costs of running their appliances and electronics, break down their bill, evaluate their solar electricity system performance, and capitalize on custom recommendations to solve any inefficiencies.
Chai Energy Pro's real-time energy monitoring and customized tips can save the average homeowner up to $300 per year on their energy bill. With the Energy Upgrade California partnership, users will now also have access to personalized saving plans on the app's Insights tab.
"The Chai Energy app processes data from nearly any energy source, ranging from household appliances to solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, and analyzes that data to identify opportunities for energy savings," said Evan Birenbaum, chief operating officer, Chai Energy. The Chai Energy app is a valuable resource for all current customers of Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas & Electric. Chai Energy Pro is currently only available to customers of Pacific Gas & Electric and Southern California Edison residing in single-family homes.
