SAN DIEGO.- Dani Alves ignited a massive response from all those against racism. During a recent soccer match, a Villareal fan threw a banana at him on the field, as a racist reference to the fact that he is of South American origin. In response, he very coothly ate the banana, surprising spectators before continuing play as though nothing had happened.

His message to racists is that we all originate from apes, according to Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. When things like this happen, players usually ignore it, or protest ensue as was the case of Neymar v. Scotland in 2010, and Samuel Eto during several instances in Italy.

Macaco is another word for monkey where Neymar is from. After the game, many Brasilean players, including Neymar, David Luiz, Willian and Osca posed with bananas on their social media sites with the hashtag #TodosSomosMacacos (we are all macacos or we are all monkeys) and linked to Neymar's instagram page, starting a social media frenzy.
