TIJUANA.- Andrew S. E. Erickson was officially appointed as the new Consul of the United States in Tijuana, the office confirmed this Monday.

It was also informed that the Oakland native will be in office for the next three years.

With a History degree by the Brown University, Erickson has experience in political, economic, multilateral and immigration affairs. He recently was a Civilian Representative at the Regional Southwestern Platform in Afghanistan, being in charge of humanitarian operations and political development in that country.

In addition, he has been a staff member in US embassies in Algeria, Seychelles, Panama, Bolivia and Colombia.

He worked as a refugee link in the US mission before the European Union in Brussels and with international organizations in Geneva.

He was appointed by Washington as Deputy Director for Haiti.

Erickson will take the place of Steve Kashkett.
