ABC. es mentioned that the majority of the victims were low income works, who consumed adulterated alcohol, sold at very low cost in a bar of a Rathodi village, on Wednesday night.

Dhananjay Kulkarni, a Indian police spokesperson, mentioned that 7 suspects have been arrested for possible links to the intoxication, although they assure more people could be involved. "At least 150 drank from this alcohol, and unfortunately many other could suffer from this. Several citizens have been hospitalized and are under critical conditions." Furthermore, he mentioned that methanol is frequently added to this beverages to increase their alcohol levels.
Four officials, an inspector and four other agents have been suspended due to negligence, given that the sale of this beverages could have been prevented.
Death due to illegal alcohol intake in India is very common, given that the price for a legal beverage is out of reach for the majority of its citizens. Six months ago 27 people passed away, and several were hospitalized.
