Authorities in Los Angeles have announced the seizure of over 900,000 doses of fentanyl as part of a significant operation aimed at curbing drug trafficking. The operation, known as “Take Back America,” saw a coordinated effort between the Los Angeles Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) and the Glendale Police Department.
During the operation, agents intercepted a vehicle carrying a variety of illicit substances, including counterfeit pills, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and MDMA. A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence and a stash house used for storing drugs led to the confiscation of the following:
- 500,000 counterfeit pills (including M30, Xanax, Oxycodone, and Ecstasy)
- A large garbage bag of loose fentanyl powder
- 15 kilograms of fentanyl, including purple fentanyl
- 30 pounds of crystal methamphetamine
- 5 kilograms of cocaine
- Heroin, GHB, ketamine, and psilocybin mushrooms
- Three assault rifles, four pistols, ammunition, and $30,000 in cash
“Half a million counterfeit pills and 15 kilos of fentanyl are now off the streets because DEA and our Homeland Security Task Force partners moved as one. This is what real coordination looks like and it’s why communities in Los Angeles are safer today. This wasn’t just a seizure—it was a lifesaving intervention,” said DEA Associate Chief of Operations Brian Clark.
The Los Angeles HSTF, which primarily focuses on combating foreign terrorist organizations and transnational organized crime, played a key role in the operation. Group 1 of the task force includes the following agencies:
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA),
- Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
- U.S. Department of Homeland Security
- U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
- Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI)
- United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) for Central District of California
- Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)
- Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigations (IRS-CI)
- United States Marshals Service (USMS)
