Last week Enrique Peña Nieto was interviewed by Fareed Zakaria for the "GPS" TV show broadcasted on the CNN network; the concern was not over the dialogue itself, though, but on the pauses Peña Nieto made while answering Zakaria's questions. Why not respond fluidly?

The interview's topic was the future of Mexico's war against drugs, the strategy Enrique Peña Nieto is planning to use as the President of Mexico. He stated that it wouldn't be a radical change from the one the current president, Felipe Calderón, has been using up until now.

While he replied, some confusion could be seen on him; MVS' analysts like Denisse Dresser and Lorenzo Meyer thought his manner gives an idea about his intellectual competence and how, for him, it was necessary to prepare in advance a speech he could follow since, even though it was a topic Peña Nieto has talked about before, he had no clear responses ready.

The Mexican public feels that their president elect needs somebody to dictate his answers and that he also needs to practice with a translator. His English proficiency had already been discussed and it people invariably thought that he needed to improve.
