San Diego is alive with events year-round, offering a wide range of activities that share a common goal: bringing the community together to celebrate. And a perfect example is coming to Petco Park this August.
In honor of Petco’s 60th anniversary, Bark at the Big Screen will take place at Gallagher Square inside Petco Park—a special movie night where dogs and their humans can enjoy a film under the stars.
Bark at the Big Screen in San Diego: Everything You Need to Know
The event will be held on August 12, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with the movie beginning at 6:30 p.m. Please note that both people and dogs must have their own tickets to attend. Human tickets are priced at $15 (plus tax), while dog tickets cost $5 (plus tax). Each dog must be accompanied by an adult.
The featured film is The Sandlot, a beloved classic that tells the story of a new kid in town who learns to play baseball and bonds with a group of friends over a summer filled with unforgettable adventures.

Since this is a pet-friendly event, Petco Park has outlined a few important guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Your dog is welcome to attend if they:
- Are at least six months old and comfortable around people and other dogs
- Are current on all required vaccinations
- Are in generally good health
- Behave well on a leash and are not overly aggressive
- Are friendly with humans and not overly sensitive to loud noises
However, dogs with the following traits may not be allowed to enter:
- Under six months old and not yet ready for large crowds
- Elderly dogs that may have trouble walking or staying outdoors for extended periods
- Aggressive behavior toward other dogs or people
- Females in heat
- Fear of loud sounds or fireworks
- Signs of illness, such as coughing, nasal discharge, lethargy, or diarrhea
