A significant step toward establishing a specialized hospital of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Playas de Rosarito was announced. Mayor Rocío Adame reported that she met with Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda to analyze the feasibility of the project, which would bring specialized medical care closer to thousands of residents who currently have to travel to other municipalities for treatment.

A key milestone is approaching on March 14, when Ejido Mazatlán will hold an assembly to formalize the donation of a parcel to City Hall. The next step will be to process the corresponding cadastral key, advancing the necessary administrative groundwork.

While the municipality currently has access to a 4-hectare site near the Baja California Center (Baja Center), IMSS requires a minimum of 5.5 hectares to meet its technical specifications. To resolve this, the mayor revealed that the state government has agreed to donate an additional 1.5 hectares, bringing the total to the required size.

According to the mayor, the proposal has been confirmed viable. Her administration, she added, will continue working in close coordination with state authorities to ensure all of IMSS’s guidelines and requirements are met.

If realized, the project promises to be a transformative development for the region’s healthcare landscape. It would not only significantly expand the municipality’s health infrastructure but also fortify access to specialized services, directly benefiting the well-being of the local population.

Lastly, Mayor Rocío Adame reiterated the unwavering commitment of her the Rosarito City Hall to see the project through, emphasizing that it is a key action to improve the quality of life for all residents and strengthen the future development of Playas de Rosarito.
