During Baja California Health Secretary Alonso Pérez Rico's daily update, he was questioned about whether priests could be considered a priority population to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as well as frontline health workers.
The authorities mentioned that this is a vaccination plan established by the federal government, but that priests who belong to the older adult sector (80 years old) could be among the first to receive the vaccine since they are considered the next group, due to their vulnerability, to be vaccinated after the health workers.
According to Pérez Rico, another profession that is being analyzed at the moment to also be considered one of the first to receive the vaccine is the police.
"What is being analyzed right now is precisely the security forces, the police, those who walk the streets watching people, to be one of the professions that enters first because they do not rest either," he said.
For the moment, it is expected that before December 15, more than 60% of the doctors and nurses in Baja California will be vaccinated against the coronavirus.
