According to weather forecasts by Meteored, a weather forecast website, rain in the city will begin at 5 AM on Thursday, February 1, with 30% chance of rain increasing until reaching a 90% chance throughout the day and keeping itself that way until the evening of Friday, February 2.

It is expected rain chances for the weekend of Saturday, February 3 and Sunday, February 4, to be very low. However, on Monday, February 5, there will be a 30% of rain coming back, which will increase in the early morning of Tuesday, February 6. It is forecasted that showers will remain active until Friday, February 9.

Classes suspended in Baja California due to weather forecast



Due to this weather forecast, the Secretariat of Public Education of the state revealed that on Thursday, February 1 and on Friday, February 2, classes will be suspended at all academic levels on both shifts. Pre-alert state declared in Tijuana due to arrival of storms on Thursday



Through the Municipal Council of Civil Protection, the 24th Municipal Administration of Tijuana declared a pre-alert state in the municipality. This is due to a series of storms that have been forecasted to arrive on Thursday, February 1 and that will remain active until next week.

The municipal director of Civil Protection, Miguel Ángel Ceballos, revealed that according to the latest reports, the first storm will arrive at 4 AM on Thursday with heavy and intense showers in some areas of the city, with the most critical moments occurring between 8 AM to 4 PM approximately.

Miguel Ángel Bujanda Ruiz, Secretary of the Municipal Government, reiterated that by instructions of mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, a permanent coordination is being maintained between federal, state, and municipal governments in order to deal with this weather condition. He stated:

This administration's main responsibility is to safeguard the lives of the people of Tijuana. We ask them not to litter, not to leave their homes. Don't do it. Don't cross streams and, above all, keep an eye on social media where Civil Protection will issue everything you need to know. The entire staff of the municipal administration is here for you.
