The U.S. Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the visit of President Barack Obama to Mexico for the first week of May, where his visit will focus on issues like immigration and trade.
"The meeting of both Presidents will reaffirm the strategic importance of the bilateral relationship, as well as the opportunities that flow from it. Both governments are working to identify new ways to expand the mutual benefits of cooperation in North America and as responsible global partners," said the Department of Foreign Affairs in a statement.
The timing of this visit is crucial as it will be after Congress discusses the immigration reform, which is scheduled for April. This trip will be the first to Mexico by Barack Obama in Peña Nieto's new administration.
