Business opportunities in South and Central America
Daniela Robles shared information regarding the economic situation of South and Central America, mentioned that Chile and Uruguay are very little countries where logistics are not a very complex subject, but it is not the same for Brazil or Argentina.
In other aspects she stressed
that it
is
easier for Mexicans to access the
central American market that represents the same figure
in its exportation percentage that we export to Colombia, and invited those who already have the export experience
to Colombia
to considerate the possibility to export trough central America or vice versa.
According to this, Argentina explained that the country does not have sufficient dollars to pay their foreign debt or to import products; this is why the government has created
a series of mechanisms to ensure and
guard this currency , such as the "Argentine General resolution (DJAI)", a mechanism that was applied
two years ago and currently
valid , trough it the government asked
buyers and international operators to consult with the government
before issuing any purchase order to verify if there
is any possibility to create it,
and wait until the government issues it and
approves it.
She also mentioned that the government asks primarily for a 1X1 requirement to authorize any purchase, this means that for each dollar that is being imported in Argentina they are obligated to export the same quantity, this means that if you find a buyer in Argentina that wants to buy a thousand dollars in product the government is going to ask the person that is importing to export of a thousand US of any Argentine product in order to maintain the balance in 0.
