A recording device installed by Mexico’s National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP) in Valle de los Cirios, San Quintín, captured the striking moment a puma was hunting a bighorn sheep. The agency described the footage as not only exciting but also proof that the region’s ancestral balance remains intact and worthy of protection.

Designated a protected area in 1980, Valle de los Cirios is regarded as one of the world’s best-preserved natural treasures thanks to its vast expanse and excellent conservation status, according to the Government of Mexico.
The reserve is of tropical origin and noted for its exceptional plant diversity, including species such as the cirio, cardón, and torote. Its fauna is equally remarkable, home to two subspecies of bighorn sheep, as well as reptiles and antelopes.
