SAN DIEGO. San Diego County authorities are searching for individuals who might have had direct contact with a rabid bat inside or out of the San Diego Zoo facilities, wanting to avoid any casualties.
The bat in question was found at the park on Saturday, but the staff said that it wasnt part of the zoos animals.
This rodent was captured by experts while avoiding contact with it and then transported it to the San Diego County offices. No animal belonging to the zoo is rabid, said the park authorities. They pointed that the only way to get rabies from the bat is to get bitten by it or having direct contact between its saliva and a persons open wound, eyes, nose or mouth.
