Ensenada has firmly established itself as one of Mexico’s premier cruise tourism destinations, thanks to historic figures that have made it climb to third place nationwide in cruise arrivals. According to the National Port System Administration (ASIPONA), the 360 cruise arrivals represent a 24% increase from 2024, while the 1.3 million passengers reflect a 30% year-over-year jump.
Mayor Claudia Agatón Muñiz said the numbers underscore the city’s growing appeal and its consolidation as a key hub on the Mexican Pacific. The surge in visitors is also giving a major boost to the local economy, benefiting sectors such as retail, dining, and tourism services.

Over the past five years, Agatón Muñiz noted, the port has become a standout player in the cruise industry, driving regional economic development and generating thousands of jobs in tourism and service-related fields.
The port regularly welcomes top-tier vessels from major cruise lines, including Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Disney Cruise Line, and Princess, among others.
The mayor also highlighted a historic moment: on June 2 of last year, the Quantum, the second-largest ship in the world and part of the Royal Caribbean fleet, made its first-ever arrival in Ensenada. The vessel measures 348 meters in length and carries more than 5,000 tourists and 2,500 crew members.

Since then, the Quantum has continued to arrive two to four times per month, making Ensenada a regular destination on its route.
“The challenge this year is to enhance our tourism and service offerings so that every cruiser and crew member leaves with an unforgettable experience, positioning Ensenada as the best destination in northwestern Mexico,” Agatón Muñiz said.
She also credited the public policies of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, which she said have enabled Mexico’s ports to grow and promoted sustainable tourism development, greater international competitiveness, and improved well-being for families.
The Ensenada government led by Claudia Agatón remains committed to coordinating with federal and state authorities to strengthen the port’s competitiveness and secure even more arrivals for the benefit of the city and its residents.
