The arrival to the menu of this singular dish generated surprise and hundreds of comments on social media.
The restaurant "Once Patios" located in Patzcuaro, Michoacán announced on its Facebook page a new member on the menu and caused a great controversy among people.
A Jelly Torta was the new thing, and even though Mexico already has different type of tortas, such as tamales and chilaquiles torta, this new version of the dish exceeded the limits.
"A traditional family dish," said the Chef in charge of the restaurant, and talked about how his grandmother prepared this exotic treat.
The combination of the jelly sweetness and the saltiness of the bread makes up the jelly torta, which according to the Chef, was one of his family's favorite dish.
They have received many negative comments, but also many people had shown great curiosity towards the dish and gone to the place specifically to try this torta.
