The Playas de Rosarito City Council voted unanimously this week to approve a set of changes aimed at making city government run more smoothly while strengthening public safety and environmental oversight. Backed by Mayor Rocío Adame, the measures focus on cutting red tape, improving emergency response, and supporting the city’s industrial growth.

One of the key moves updates the city’s information technology rules to speed up the shift to digital services. The change will allow Rosarito to create a centralized digital filing system, making it easier for residents and businesses to complete paperwork, reducing wait times, and streamlining city processes without adding new staff.

City officials also pointed to closer coordination between the Fire Department, Civil Protection, and public safety teams. New steps were approved to strengthen firefighting operations, including formally recognizing volunteer firefighters and updating internal procedures to improve how emergencies are handled.

The council also signed off on clearer safety rules for hotels, restaurants, and other public places with swimming pools. The updated guidelines standardize permits and certifications, with the goal of improving safety standards for both locals and visitors.

In environmental matters, council members approved internal rules that formally create a new Animal Rights and Welfare office within the city’s environmental department. The move sets a legal foundation for animal protection and environmental programs, without introducing new fees or permits.
